Air Force Armament Museum

This museum is dedicated to the collection, care, and exhibition of artifacts associated with Air Force Armament, in order to educate the public. With a collection of over 15,000 artifacts from the early days of aviation warfare armament during World War I through today’s high tech bombs and planes. The armament museum is a must see in the Fort Walton Beach area. Admission is free.

Gulfarium Marine and Adventure Park

The Gulfarium is dedicated to educating, entertaining, and inspiring its guests to respect and preserve marine life with the unique experience it has created. The Gulfarium continues it’s legacy of education and preservation after nearly 62 years. When you visit you can expect to encounter dolphins, stingrays, reptiles, alligators, turtles, penguins and more.

General admission is $21.95. For kids it is $13.95. There is a discounted price for military and seniors, and Florida residents. There is even an annual pass option.

Any way you choose to enjoy the Gulfarium, it is definitely a must see attraction for a day of fun in Fort Walton Beach.

Wild Willy’s Adventure Zone

If you are crazy about dinosaurs then this is the place for you! At Wild Willy’s Adventure Zone you can play, explore, and discover all about these fascinating creatures.

Inside you will find an arcade, 4D movie theater, and a laser maze. Outdoor activities include dino themed mini golf, a 60 foot rope course, a spinning roller coaster, a reverse bungee trampoline, and remote battle boats.  Food options include delicious Salvati’s Pizza and YogoMogo’s frozen yogurt.

It is sure to be a day filled with fun and excitement. Pricing varies per attraction, therefore you can pick and choose what you want to do. One of our favorite attractions is the T-Rex Island Adventure Golf. This 18 hole mini golf course is complete with fully animatronic dinosaurs. It feels like you are in prehistoric times with actual dinosaurs!

Emerald Coast Science Center

Calling all the curious! The Emerald Coast Science Center is the perfect place for kids to get hands on with science. Their tagline is appropriately stated as “Where kids have fun with science!” There is a variety of exhibits for hands on activities. These activities will teach kids about a variety of science subjects, including Light & Color, Robotics, Wind, and Physics.

The Emerald Coast Science Center hosts a series of special events. One of our favorites is Planetarium Nights. Planetarium Nights  are the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. Shows are at 5, 6, and 7 pm on these days. It is suggested that you book ahead of time because space is limited.

Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for kids, with discounts for seniors, military, and locals. They also feature a $5 Fridays, where admission for everyone is only $5!

Heritage Park & Cultural Center

This center includes the Indian Temple Mound Museum, Fort Walton Temple Mound, Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum, Garnier Post Office Museum, and Civil War Exhibits. The Heritage Park & Cultural Center has the mission of preserving and educating the public of the history of the Fort Walton Beach community.

When visiting you can expect to hit all these museums in the same day. All of them are conveniently close together. Go back in time as the history of this town comes to life.

Visit the Fort Walton Temple Mound, a designated National Historic Landmark. This mound is 223 feet across and stands 12 feet tall. It is wonder to see! Then visit the museum to see some of the artifacts that were found in the mound, revealing things about the culture that once lived there.

Other exhibits include the schoolhouse, post office, and Civil War exhibits. Admission includes all museums that are within the Cultural Center. General admission is $5 plus tax, with discounts for children, seniors, and military.
